Digital Art: Butterflies and Dragonflies
Butterflies are deep and powerful representations of life. Many cultures associate the butterfly with our souls. The Christian religion sees the butterfly as a symbol of resurrection. Around the world, people view the butterfly as representing endurance, change, hope, and life.

The dragonfly, in almost every part of the world, symbolizes change and change in the perspective of self-realization; and the kind of change that has its source in mental and emotional maturity and the understanding of the deeper meaning of life.

I’ve been working on my creations for the past several days and enjoyed every minute of it. They would have been so much easier and faster if I could draw. But, since I can’t, I created them using various shapes. Of course, there’s a lot more to it than that. But, thanks to PaintShop Pro, I have all the tools I need to stretch and manipulate those shapes into anything I want them to be. So, you see? You don’t have to know how to draw to create fun and inspiring designs. You just have to have a little imagination.
Shapes that I used are circles, hearts, bows, and flower leaves. After creating an image, I added color and special effects using the tools in PaintShop Pro 2019 ultimate. Other, more in-depth effects are plugins that I downloaded to Paint Shop Pro. My favorites are Harry’s Filters http://www.thepluginsite.com and Flaming Pear http://www.flamingpear.com

Surviving C-19 the Fun Way
I don’t know about you, but I’m really getting sick and tired of being stuck inside. I miss being with my family and friends. I miss eating out and shopping. I miss seeing real-live people in real-live places. Netflix can only do so much to keep me entertained. It’s a good thing I love to create!

The Great Outdoors
I finally got my butt in gear and actually did some yard work. The air was cool, just the way I like it. And the sun was shining and the wind was blowing and the birds were singing and the butterflies were fluttering. Corona was not in my world yesterday.
Winter does a number on most yards. The trees are naked, the grass is brown, and everything seems more dead than alive. It’s depressing.
So, it was great being outside giving my flowerbeds a much-needed facelift pulling weeds, and trimming bushes and trees. My back didn’t like it. But I did what I set out to do and I’m proud of myself for that. Usually, I try doing half a dozen things at once creating more work for me and my husband. So, he was proud of me, too.
I’m far from being finished, but I’m making headway, at least. A few weeks ago, when I was feeling depressed and fed up with it all, I told my husband that I’d like to do away with the big natural area in the front yard. Then, the sun came out again and I saw things differently and decided that we put too much work into it to tear it all down. It took hours just to line it with the field rocks we collected. It still isn’t the way I want it, and it’s still a lot of upkeep, but I would miss it if it were gone.
I’ve posted a few pictures of the front yard after I finally gave it a little TLC. We still need to pull a few more weeds and put out pine needles. I haven’t done anything down the driveway, yet. I’m waiting for the Azaleas to quit blooming so hubby can cut them all back. They’ve gotten too big for their britches and I have to trim them constantly.
We were young when we created all these natural areas and more able to take care of them. Now, we’re old and hurt in places we never knew we had. So, it’s rough. But, we’re still hanging in there and doing the best we can till we just can’t do it anymore. And if we decide to stay here, we’ll hire someone else to take care of what we can’t. It’ll probably break the bank but that’s better than breaking our backs.

From a Mushroom to and Angel: Digital Art
I like looking at objects and seeing something else entirely. Like looking at clouds and seeing faces or a cat or a dinosaur. That’s what I did with this mushroom. Instantly I saw a beautiful dress and decided that it would look great on an angel.
I created my angel using PaintShop Pro 2019. For the dress and wings, I used the mushroom shape. The face, hair, halo, bow, and flower are picture tubes. I created the wings and dress using the warp tool in PaintShop pro. I also used it to reshape the hair and the face. Then I added texture and color for the finishing touches.

I’m addicted to digital art. Every day I create. Hour after hour after hour I create. I should be committed.
It’s difficult for me to explain how I come up with my creations because I don’t have any certain method. PaintShop Pro comes with an array of colors and textures and I play around with them till I come up with the look I want. Also, I use other plugins, like Harry’s Filters (harrys-filters.en.softonic.com) and flaming pear (http://www.flamingpear.com).
As you can tell, I like anything out of the norm. That’s what makes life interesting.

You Can Do Anything if You Want to Bad Enough
This is my first attempt at digital drawing. I don’t draw using a pencil and paper let alone using a mouse and a computer screen. I create most of my designs using picture tubes or photos. Sometimes, I create them using shapes and the warp tool in PaintShop Pro. That’s a lot of fun. But, today, I actually drew a face using the pallet knife tool. Several times I thought of trashing it. But, I kept working with it till I was finally satisfied.
I had the most trouble with the eyes. I’m still not 100% happy with them, but they’re better than they were before I changed them a million times.
I used to draw as a kid, but I never thought I was good at it, so I took up other interests, like playing the accordion, organ, and piano. And I enjoyed singing, too. So, what drawing skills I may have had are full of spiders and cobwebs, now.
